Did you know I lead grief groups? I am a professional who speaks from the heart. Whether you are looking to start a grief group series or you want her to speak at your next event, contact us.
I can bring wisdom and humor to those who need it most.I am presently leading/mentoring three Grief Groups in my area. I have personally written the curriculum and the participants seem to be growing from the experience.
Based on scripture, personal stories and discussion, the two-hour meetings include time to listen and time to share. The topics are everyday trials and tribulations with which the newly single person must cope.
As you will notice in my writing, I spend a lot of time on feelings. Sharing of these poignant, intimate details of one’s grief journey is important. I stress confidentiality to all my groups and sharing is voluntary. Trust and honesty are important ingredients to keep the group functioning. After one or two sessions, participants have shared that they feel accepted and loved by the group.
A sample of topics includes:
- REALITY
- LOSS AND KIDS
- CLEANING OUT THE CLOSETS
- COUNTING OUR BLESSINGS
- STAYING OR SELLING THE FAMILY HOUSE.
All of these topics are discussed — one per meeting — because they are commonly shared experiences for most participants. Comparing how they handle these challenges is enlightening and frequently helpful to others.
We spend time trying to find humor in ourselves. I base much of my storytelling on my own grief walk portrayed in my book, FROM WE TO ME (Letters To My Friend). This was published in 2013. My new book, FROM ME TO WE, is a journey toward the subject of dating, online dating, attending activities with old friends, expectations of our family and friends and other subjects. I see a lot of wagging heads as we proceed through the meetings and more and more smiles.
