On my afternoon walk this day, I looked down on the sunny curbing and saw a delicate butterfly. At first, I tentatively bent down hoping to see some movement, but there was none. So, I reached and gently placed the beautiful creature in my left hand.
I marveled at the beautiful colors, the designs on his wings that looked like a paintbrush had just lifted from their creation. One of the legs was broken and a little break in the left wing were the only visible evidence of his demise.
I brought the butterfly home and have it in my little dish near my computer with several other lovely creatures. Just too beautiful to ignore and throw away.
I think of the Bible verses that assure us that God knows every creature and when they fall from the sky. I looked at this lovely butterfly and felt special to have come upon to still enjoy his beauty afterlife. I think God has a paintbrush and paints on a palette that truly creates the beauty of our world– of course, it was His first!
I invite you to look down and around as you do you’re walking. Or as the old adage, “Stop and smell the roses”. You never know what you may find to savor the beauty of our God. His reminders are all around us…even though we all aren’t artists—He is!
